Community Fridges

Did you know the FREE FOOD from community fridges has been proven to reduce food waste, mitigate climate change, support the provision of food to those in need, and reduce the shame surrounding food access?

A community fridge in Scotland found that more than 1,987 people used it in its first 6 months and that 19.4 tonnes of food were redistributed. Also, the fridge produced a regenerative community dynamic and it provided the opportunity for learning and conversations surrounding food insecurity (Carmen et al, 2021).

New Yorkers are all over the rise of community fridges, with 100+ fridges across the five boroughs; these fridges are lifelines for members of our community! If you are not a low-income member of our community, please consider helping to stock your local fridge by making donations, especially sealed/non-perishable goods!
